When I try to download films with Quick Time, EVERY time . . . within seconds, the film freezes up and the sound drops out completely and the screen and the player basically just screw up.

But actually, it seems to work fine in the morning. But later in the day, this problem comes up AGAIN and AGAIN. I've been working on fixing it the past two days, nothing good came out of it. I can't play Real Player either, but that's not such a big problem.

It sounds like a bandwidth issue, that is, the Archive isn't able to deliver the file to you fast enough for it to play smoothly.

If that is the case then downloading the file to your hard disk and playing it when the download has completed is something to try.
